Tim Marsh

Tim Marsh was raised on the island of Oahu, Hawaii from age 4 and has been surfing for 40+ years of his life. Tim started surfing at age 9 and began surfing competitively at age 12. Tim surfed the North Shore during the pivotal years of the mid 70’s through the early 80’s.

The travel bug for surf exploration hit Tim early and off he went around the world to exotic surf spots in chase of not only perfect waves but perhaps a place he could call home.  In 1995, Tim traveled to Costa Rica for the first time and instantly fell in love with the people, the latin culture, the gorgeous landscapes, and of course the uncrowded consistent Pacific surf. The pure life “pura vida” vibe was very similar to the “aloha spirit” in many ways and reminded Tim of home. He knew he had found a location that he would invest his future into.

Tim created one of the first all inclusive surf camps in Central America in 1998, called Safari Surf School. He went on to create Safari Surf Adventures as an extension of Safari Surf School for intermediate surfers looking to take their surfing skills to the next level.  In 2013 Tim had the opportunity to buy beachfront property and build a surf hotel that could be a model for other hotels in Costa Rica and around the world. He partnered up with a couple of his previous guests and created the Olas Verdes Hotel which boasts the first L.E.E.D. (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Platinum Certification surf hotel in Central America.

A passion for sustainable surf travel and tourism is quite noteworthy, his surf program in Costa Rica is the world’s first sustainable certified surf school programs through STOKE Certified. Tim’s extremely proud of this landmark achievement as the process for certification is extremely difficult to attain.

Creating custom all inclusive travel packages for guests to enjoy authentic surf experiences is Tim’s calling. He loves sharing the cultures of surfing and Latin America to anyone who’s willing to learn and experience.
Tim’s happily married to his lovely wife Marsi with 3 amazing children. Currently resides in Southern California and is still creating once in a lifetime sustainable surf trip experiences for all his guests.
